How To Freshen Up Your Face After Having a Late Night

freshen up your face

Being sleep deprived is not conducive to looking youthful and vibrant. If you’ve had a late night of studying or rushing to complete a project, then it’s probably going to show on your face. If your late night involved partying, then it’s going to be even more obvious. Dark eyes, dehydration, and dull skin are a dead giveaway that you didn’t get your beauty sleep.

If you want to look your best, then you need to get enough rest. Staying up late night after night is not sustainable, and is going to leave you looking and feeling older than your years. Additionally, a lack of sleep increases your risk of disease and can impair memory and concentration.1

The odd all-nighter won’t hurt you, but you can’t really make up for lost sleep. so it’s best not to get into the habit of it. If you have been forced to stay up late though or you just really couldn’t miss that big get together, then try these quick tricks to freshen yourself up so that you still look your best the following morning.

freshen up your faceRehydrate and Refresh

One quick and easy way to freshen up a tired looking face is to apply rose water to your face. Rose water has some great hydrating properties and can help brighten and freshen up your face. Just dip some soft cotton balls in rose water and wipe your face with them to clean and freshen your skin or use a spray bottle to spray it onto your face (be sure to close your eyes).2

Brush Your Teeth

If you’re tired and bleary-eyed, then it’s likely that you’re going to have cotton mouth or morning breath. Brush your teeth with a nice minty toothpaste and rinse your mouth with a good mouthwash. It will perk you up, make your smile look brighter and whiter, and help make the rest of your face look better too.

Try a Coffee Scrub freshen up your face

Coffee is full of antioxidants, and it’s also a good stimulant.3 Use coffee grounds to make a facial scrub that will remove dead skin cells and help lock the moisture into your skin. The scrub will help to reduce the appearance of fine lines and hide blemishes too. You’ll be left with radiant-looking skin.

Let Your Hair Down

If you’re exhausted and nothing seems to perk you up, then you can cheat, assuming you have long hair. Just let your hair down. The hair will frame your face in a nice delicate fashion, concealing the boundaries and emphasizing your jaw and cheekbones. If your hair is messy and you can’t just let it down, then keep most of it tied back but let some of it out so that it will distract from your tired face.

freshen up your faceUse a Lemon Face Wash

Lemon oil has a nice citrus smell that will perk you up, and it’s also great for cleaning your skin. This oil can soothe irritated skin, and it also contains antimicrobial and antioxidant properties, making it a great addition to any skincare routine.4 Make sure to dilute the lemon essential oil with your normal face wash to avoid irritation.

These pick-me-ups will keep you looking fresh and presentable for that panel or presentation, or so that you can go to hand in the assignment and pretend that you weren’t rushing to finish it at 4 a.m. You will still find yourself losing energy later in the day, though, so try to get into the habit of managing your time and actually sleeping. Your skin, body, and mind will thank you for it.
