Top Tips for Reducing Body Fat

reducing body fat

Over the last few years there’s been a lot of talk about body image, health and fitness, eating disorders, and weight loss. Because of this, the concept of the Body Mass Index (BMI) is fairly well-known, and most people know that BMI metric is simply a range used to assess individuals.

The BMI is a formula that takes height and weight, and converts it into a figure that can be checked against a chart. If BMI is below a certain number, this means you are underweight relative to the rest of the population. If it is above a given number, then you are overweight.

Unfortunately, all BMI knows is your height and weight, not your gender, age, activity level, or body fat percentage, creating some limitations in its accuracy. However, even without BMI, it is true that modern lifestyles are not very conducive to staying fit and healthy. That’s why it’s so important that to be proactive about personal health.1

Safe and Healthy Ways to Reduce Body Fatbody fat

If you’re looking to lose a few extra pounds, then it’s a good idea to do it in a slow, safe, and sustainable way. Having said that, a few significant lifestyle changes can go a long way towards making a difference.

Change What You Drink

One of the most common “gotchas” for people who are trying to lose weight is that a lot of popular drinks are incredibly calorie dense. Fruit juice, soda, milk-based drinks, creamy and syrup-filled coffees, and alcoholic drinks all contain more calories than it seems.

Simply switching to sugar-free infusions and unsweetened teas can help with weight loss in two ways. First, you will be consuming fewer calories than you normally do. Secondly, many teas contain catechins that can help suppress appetite and boost metabolism, meaning that you experience fewer cravings and burn more fat.2

dizzyGet a Helping Hand From Essential Oils

Essential oils can help promote weight loss too. For example, peppermint essential oil has been found to reduce appetite and curb cravings, while citrus oils can help promote fat burning.3

Citrus essential oils contain p-synephrine, which helps to promote fat oxidation. This means that when you’re running a calorie deficit and the body turns to fat for fuel, it does so more efficiently.

Gain an Edge with Exercise

As you get closer to your ideal weight, it becomes harder to lose weight just by eating fewer calories. This is because fat is metabolically active, just like muscle. Losing fat means that your body uses less energy, so you body fatrequire fewer calories to maintain your existing weight.

At this point, you’ll need to re-evaluate your calorie allowance to make sure you’re still in a deficit and losing weight. There may come a time when it feels like you have to eat less than you would like to lose weight. The way to allow yourself to eat more is through exercise. Going to the gym isn’t an excuse to eat an entire pizza, but it can provide you with some extra calorie burn so that you can enjoy an extra snack or a bigger helping at lunch time. It all adds up.

Fat burning is a series of sensible choices. If you eat right and exercise regularly, you’ll be able to achieve a lean, strong body, and have the energy to do all the things that you love.
