Happy Earth Day! Since the celebration of this day started in 1970, its purpose has been to help protect the environment and spend time in nature. Today, it’s celebrated in over 193 countries, each with traditions, organizations, initiatives, and activities to keep Mother Nature healthy and happy. MONQ recognizes the importance behind this day and has very strong roots with nature and the environment because of our use of all-natural essential oils in personal aromatherapy diffusers. This day comes around once a year but you can do little things to celebrate it all year long! Many organizations, environmental or otherwise, host special events in celebration of Earth Day including calls to clean up litter, plant trees, or learn about composting and recycling in your area. Donating time or money to these causes protect the environment. While it’s ideal to have this mindset more than one day a year, it’s nice to have a little reminder with a dedicated day for it.
This year, Earth Day looks a bit different. Stay@Home orders have many unable to access greenspaces and waterways. Create a bucket list of earth-friendly opportunities when you are once again out and about. Take solace in knowing that while we’re in, the earth is getting a much-needed reprieve and breathing a little deeper. Smog and pollution are clearing, wildlife is exploring, and the earth is a bit brighter.

Today and all other days of the year, take a moment to appreciate all the earth has to offer.
Also known as forest therapy or Shinrin-yoku, this Japanese tradition establishes the physical and mental health benefits of spending time in a forest to soak up nature. The natural compounds released by the trees in the air, called terpenes, are instrumental in the following proven health benefits of forest bathing:
- Improved immune system function
- Lower levels of stress
- Reduced blood pressure
- Improved mood
- Increased ability to focus
- Boost of energy
- Improved quality of sleep
- Accelerated recovery from illness and surgery1
Forest bathing is definitely an ideal way to spend time in nature to celebrate Earth Day, however with urbanization and city-living, it’s not always possible to find enough trees in one spot to feel the benefits, and in times like these, when we’re under Stay@Home orders, we may have to be creative. The use of essential oils in aromatherapy is an excellent alternative.
Earth Day Essential Oil Blends
